Frequently asked questions.
-
The PTA exists to support the school’s educational goals and mission, build a strong school community, support our students and teachers, and fill funding gaps not covered by DCPS. We plan events, fundraise, support enrichment programs and advocate for the needs of our school.
-
You’re already a member! Every parent, guardian and caregiver of a Hyde-Addison student is automatically part of the PTA—no sign-up or dues required.
-
Nope! We’re proud to have a dues-free PTA. Everyone is welcome and there’s no cost to participate.
-
The PTA hosts 4 general body meetings throughout the school year where we encourage the entire Hyde-Addison community to attend. Typically, each meeting will have a focused topic based off of parent/guardian interest during the June survey. When the SY 25-26 meeting dates are announced, we will post them on the website under “Events” and on Konstella.
-
There are so many ways! From one-time volunteering at an event to joining a committee or helping behind the scenes, there’s something for everyone. Reach out anytime or check the “Get Involved” and/or “Volunteer Needs” pages for more information and opportunities!
-
DCPS does not fully fund the school’s annual budget. For SY 2024-2025, Hyde-Addison’s unfunded needs totaled nearly $99,000. PTA donations help fill that gap—directly supporting field trips, classroom supplies, technology, teacher retention, events, professional development and much more.
-
Yes! The Hyde-Addison PTA is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 52‐1844971), so your donations are fully tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. To obtain a donation receipt, please complete the Donation Intake Form. Once submitted, we will process your form and return a donation receipt in a timely manner.
-
Konstella is a private communication platform that can be accessed via the web or their mobile app. The PTA uses it for organizing events, class announcements, volunteer sign-ups and more. It helps our families stay connected throughout the year.
-
Remind is the communication app teachers use to message individual families or share classroom-specific updates directly from the school staff.
Konstella is managed by the PTA and is used for school-wide community news, event sign-ups, volunteer coordination and PTA-related updates.
We recommend signing up for both to stay fully connected!
-
Our newsletter keeps you in the loop about upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, important school updates and ways to get involved. It’s the easiest way to stay connected! Our newsletter is for PTA-related news—the school administration has their own weekly newsletter, which is emailed to families every Friday.
-
Not at all! We welcome all caregivers, including grandparents, legal guardians and extended family members. If you care about a Hyde-Addison student, you belong here!

For those that prefer to read PTA updates from our bulletin board, it is located within the main entrance of the school by the administrative office and across from the security desk. This bulletin board is dedicated to PTA news and is updated regularly, although for the most up-to-date information, please reference Konstella or our website.
