Coping Skill Cafe: A Family Affair!
Join the Student Support Team on Thursday, March 26 for a fun, interactive event featuring an escape-room theme. Parents and students will work together through engaging activities designed to build metacognition and problem solving skills.

School Yard Gardening & Kindness Rock Painting
🌱 Join Us for Gardening & Kindness Rock Painting! 🎨
Help us kick off our first Gardening Day of 2026 and give the Hyde playground a little spring refresh! Families are invited to stop by for a fun afternoon of planting, cleanup, and painting colorful Kindness Rocks to add to our growing rock garden near the front entrance.

We’ll be doing a little bit of everything: light planting and pruning, leaf blowing, playground cleanup, and decorating rocks with positive messages to spread Hyde Pride and kindness around campus.
We’re also excited to welcome incoming 2026–27 families, so it’s a wonderful chance to meet new members of our community and show them what makes Hyde so special.

International Parade!
NEW THIS YEAR! We are excited to introduce the addition of an International Parade, to kick off the excitement of International Night. The parade will take place at Schoolwide Meeting on Friday, April 3rd (the Friday before International Night). Students of families who are hosting a table for International Night, are welcome to participate in the parade, as an introduction to the event. Students who participate are invited to wear clothing that represents their country or culture and may carry a flag as they walk in the parade, if they choose. We can’t wait to celebrate the rich diversity of our community together! For questions please contact Julia Nelson.
International Night
Hyde Addison International Night will be Thursday, April 9th 5:30pm-7:00pm. Let's celebrate Hyde-Addison's amazing diversity and learn about each other’s cultures! Families are invited to host a table teaching about your cultural heritage and traditions. Or just come with your family to learn, connect, and enjoy. To sign up to host a table, please fill out the International Night Sign Up by the deadline of Friday, March 6th! For questions please contact Amanda Sandilands.

March Madness PTA Bracket Fundraiser
Get ready for one of the most fun (and competitive!) fundraisers of the year. The Hyde-Addison PTA is hosting a 2026 NCAA March Madness Bracket Challenge through CBS Sports — and everyone is invited to join the friendly competition.
You don’t have to be a basketball expert to participate. CBS even has an auto-pick option that will create a bracket for you automatically.
You must make your purchase by March 15th (Selection Sunday) if you'd like to participate.
How It Works
• Cost: $20 per bracket
• Choose Men’s, Women’s, or both tournaments
• Purchase your bracket using the Moonclerk link below
• After payment is confirmed, you’ll receive an email invitation on 3/15 to join the Hyde-Addison CBS Sports pool
• If you are purchasing multiple brackets in this fundraiser, you will need different email addresses for each bracket. Please denote that in the purchase info on Moonclerk.

-65% of all proceeds go directly to the Hyde-Addison PTA to support programs and initiatives for our school community.
-Winners will also have the option to donate their winnings (in full or partially) back to the PTA.
-Consider having your class buy a bracket for your teacher and/or classroom aide. It’s a fun way to include them in the friendly competition!

Coffee with Principal Westover
Attention 4th and 5th Grade Families: Coffee with Principal Westover
Please drop in to meet Principal Westover and the Hardy Middle School team on March 5th from 8:10–8:35 a.m. This will be an opportunity to connect, build relationships, and learn more about Hardy’s programming and transition supports.
Later that morning, the Hardy Middle School team will present to 5th grade students, giving them an opportunity to learn more about the Hardy Middle School experience and ask questions. This presentation is for students only. Families are welcome to join us during the coffee session.
The Hyde-Addison Interactive Living Museum – Celebrating Black History Month
Join us this Friday, February 27 from 9:30–11:00 AM for Hyde-Addison’s interactive Living Museum, in celebration of Black History Month.
Hyde-Addison students will bring history to life by portraying influential Black leaders, innovators, changemakers and cultural contributions. As you walk through the museum, you can tap a student on the shoulder to hear them share about the historical figure they represent—creating a powerful, engaging learning experience for all ages.
Families are warmly encouraged to stop by after School-Wide Meeting to explore, and celebrate the important contributions and stories that have shaped our world.
**Light refreshments will be served. The Student Support Team will also host a Parent "Chat & Chew" from 9:00–9:30 AM focused on the 3 R’s: Rights, Respect, and Responsibility.**

Valentine Making!
Come out THIS Saturday, Jan 10th to help us make valentines for hospitalized patients and nursing home residents. This is a great way to give back to our community and help put smiles on faces. This is a drop-in, free event. All are welcome and encouraged to attend—including siblings and friends.
DC Quadrant NW Playdate- Ice Skating!
Join us for Ice Skating at the NW Playdate: Dec. 18th | 5 PM-6:30 PM
Hyde will be hitting the ice at the Georgetown Waterfront Washington Harbour Ice Rink on Thursday, Dec. 18 from 5:00-6:30!
-Purchase your tickets here to get the group rate (including skate rental)! If you would like to participate, but if cost is of concern, please email: hyde.addison@k12.dc.gov.
-Remember that skate times are strict and will end promptly at 6:30pm so arrive early to get your skates on.
-Warm up nearby at Bozelli’s Pizza from 4-9pm, 15% of food proceeds will benefit the PTA! Use code “HYDEADDISON” for in store or online orders. Participate in this even if you can't make it to ice skating!
