Literacy Night
Save the date for Literacy Night! Bring the whole family for a fun evening of engaging reading activities designed to support your child's literacy development. Please check the Family Newsletter for more information, including how to sign up for this school-hosted event, in the coming weeks.
Fall Movie Night!
Join us for our annual Fall Movie Night! This is a FREE event for all students and their families (including siblings!). There will be pizza, cookies, drinks and popcorn available for a small fee. Please bring blankets, sweatshirts, lawn chairs. Sunset is at 6:26 PM, so the movie will start as soon as it’s easy to see the screen! Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times. Children in Champions must be signed out before being able to attend Movie Night.
*If you participated in the Hyde-Addison Costume Swap, please bring your costume donation to Movie Night if you haven’t already swapped. Look for the table designated for costume swaps and place the recipient’s name on the outside of the bag so they can seamlessly pick up their reserved costume!

Final Friday! (1 out of 4)
On the last day of each of the 4 terms in the academic year, Hyde-Addison hosts its “Final Friday.” On these “Celebrations of Learning”, after School-Wide Meeting in the gym, the students will dismiss to their classrooms, while parents remain in the gym for announcements. When parents are dismissed, they can go to their child’s classroom where the students will showcase all of the work they have been doing during that quarter. Afterwards, parents leave and the school day resumes as usual.

Passport to Hyde Pride- Northeast, DC Playdate!
Passport to Hyde Pride: Northeast, DC Edition- Sunday, Oct 5th 2PM
Join us as we kick off our brand-new D.C. Quadrant Playdate series—a fun way to build community across all four quadrants of Washington, DC!
Sunday, October 5th
2–4 p.m.
Turkey Thicket Park (1100 Michigan Ave NE – meet on the playground)
Kids will receive a special Hyde Playdate Passport to collect stamps at each playdate. Collect all four stickers this school year and snag a prize on us!
This casual, free playdate is open to all Hyde families in every grade and every quadrant—siblings welcome. Come connect with new friends, see familiar faces, and share your Hyde Pride across the city!

On Friday, September 19th, Hyde-Addison families and friends can enjoy a meal from DIG INN while giving back to our school! DIG INN (Georgetown) will contribute 30% of your order to Hyde-Addison PTA when you apply the coupon code DIGFUNDRAISER at checkout (online orders) or mention the Hyde Fundraiser with in-person checkout!

Art All Night!
Georgetown’s biggest night festival returns on Friday, September 12! The festival takes place in all 8 wards, including Georgetown, bringing visual and performing arts, including painting, photography, sculpture, crafts, fashion, music, literary arts, dance, theater, film, and poetry, to indoor and outdoor public and private spaces, including local businesses and restaurants—and Hyde-Addison Elementary!
Join Ms. Zaid (HAE art teacher!) and the rest of the Hyde-Addison community in the gym for a night of fun art activities for the whole family to enjoy.
Throughout the greater portion of Georgetown (and DC!), you can expect:

• Car Show
• Interactive Workshops
• Glow Sticks
• And more!
The school administration is requesting parent volunteers to help with the event—including set-up, running art stations and break down. Please see Konstella to sign up as a volunteer for the event!

Can’t make it to Happy Hour? Takeout (no delivery apps!) and dine-in orders count toward the fundraiser until close at 11 PM!
PTA General Body Meeting (1 of 4)
Join us after School-Wide Meeting (SWM) on Friday, Sept. 12th for our first of four PTA General Body Meetings of the academic year. This meeting is in-person in the gymnasium. The main item on the agenda will be reviewing the proposed budget for the 2025-2026 school year and voting on its approval. In addition we will be giving an introduction to the PTA, our mission, a welcome from our Board and a brief overview of the year ahead. We hope to have as much of our Hyde-Addison community in attendance. If you’re unable to attend, the meeting minutes will be posted to the website afterwards.
Back to School Night (in-person)

Join us for Back to School Night to learn more about the community, priorities and learning environment. Everyone starts together in the gym before going to two classroom sessions (to allow for multiple children).

First Day of School (PK 3 & 4)
First day of school for all pre-k 3 & 4 students. The playground gate will open at 8:10AM. Pre-k students will enter through the side doors to the Hyde building near the green water fountain and the stairs to the outdoor classroom.
Tears & Cheers!
Meet us TOMORROW during drop off for to commiserate AND celebrate our children going off to school! All parents and caregivers are welcome to attend. Coffee and juice will be provided.
First Day of School (K-5th Grade)
The playground gate will open at 8:10AM. Students who eat breakfast at school go to the cafeteria. K-5 students will line up outside at 8:25AM, say goodbye to families and enter the building at 8:30AM.
Play Date & Gardening!
Join us for a back-to-school play date to see old friends and meet new ones the weekend before school starts. We will also be gardening and cleaning up the school yard in preparation for the first day of school. This will include a rock painting station to add more rocks to our Kindness Rock Garden on display by the main entrance of the school.
Families, siblings and incoming students are all welcome!

Bring gardening gloves, tools, lawn bags and brown cedar mulch if you can!

BTS Supply Sale Classroom Distribution
It’s time distribute the “Back-to-School Supply Sale” fundraiser items to the classroom before the first day of school! Join us on Wednesday, August 20th to help deliver all of the participating families’ supplies to the classrooms. This event requires as many volunteers as possible to help it run smoothly and efficiently. Students and older siblings are welcome to join in on the volunteer efforts, but young siblings should sit this one out because we have A LOT of supplies all over the room and this could pose a safety risk to our youngest helpers.
